Natasha Stojanovska, DMA
CONCERT PIANIST · COMPOSER · EDUCATOR · NAVONA RECORDS RECORDING ARTIST
Artist at the intersection of performance, composition & community.
Dr. Natasha Stojanovska has earned recognition as a dynamic and innovative artist, seamlessly bridging Eastern European musical heritage with contemporary classical traditions. Dividing her time between Santa Fe and Chicago, she holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music (cum laude, studying under James Giles), Masters in Music and Artist Diploma from Indiana University under Alexander Toradze, and a Bachelor of Music from Lynn University Conservatory under Roberta Rust.
A recording artist on Navona Records, active composer whose works have been performed on four continents, and a tireless builder of musical communities, Natasha is one of those rare artists who is equally compelling as a soloist, collaborator, vocal coach, composer, and concert producer.
Her playing has been described as marked by “great expressivity, innovative creation and profound character.” Oliver Prezant of Opus OP Arts and Education Projects puts it simply: “She really makes the music come alive, and she loves to relate to the audience.”
Distinctive strengths across disciplines.
WHAT SETS NATASHA APART
She makes things happen.
Natasha doesn’t wait for opportunities — she creates them. In Santa Fe, she singlehandedly brought international musicians to perform at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, First Presbyterian Church, New Mexico School for the Arts, and SITE Santa Fe Museum — all without institutional backing. In Chicago, she has produced concerts at Guarneri Hall (presented by Augusta Read Thomas), curated programs for the Air Concert Series, and built a presence across multiple venue networks simultaneously. In Fort Lauderdale, she conceived and co-produced She Did It Her Way with the Symphony of the Americas. Wherever she goes, things start happening.
Extraordinary versatility.
Solo recitalist. Chamber musician. Opera vocal coach (Santa Fe Opera, Taos Opera Institute alongside Susanne Mentzer and Amanda Majeski). Composer with works performed at the Oregon Bach Festival, Dame Myra Hess concerts, and festivals across Europe, Australia, and the Americas. Score consultant for the Renee Fleming/Patricia Barber song project. Collaborative pianist who prepared soprano Deborah Mayer for her Metropolitan Opera debut in Die Walküre.
Programming vision.
Natasha curates programs that balance the great repertoire with contemporary and underrepresented voices. Her debut album Uncommon Voices: Women Composers from Eastern Europe championed composers like Maria Szymanowska, Zara Levina, Dora Pejacevic, and Grazyna Bacewicz. The forthcoming Uncommon Voices, Part II: American Women Composers continues this mission.
Composer with a distinctive voice.
Natasha began composing at age 8 and has built a catalog spanning solo piano, chamber music, art song, and string quartet. Her compositional voice is deeply multicultural — rooted in Macedonian folk tradition (7/8 meters, “starogradska muzika”), but speaking a thoroughly contemporary language.
Audience magnetism.
Natasha creates a rare and immediate connection with audiences that listeners and collaborators consistently describe as electrifying, deeply moving, and unforgettable. Her performances are praised for nuanced musicality, elegance, passionate intensity, and dazzling technical command, while her warm presence on stage draws people in from the first moment.
Multilingual & internationally connected.
Fluent in Macedonian, English, Croatian, Bulgarian, and Serbian. Conversational Spanish. Reading knowledge of Russian and Italian. Deep personal and professional networks spanning the Balkans, Western Europe, and the Americas.
Major venues, festivals & collaborations.
